KIND STUDIO is born out of the desire to create a different kind of fashion, one that places the human being and the environment at the heart of its values. This is fully inline with IKIGAI LABELS essence.
KIND STUDIO offers everyday essentials with a strong look, while prioritising natural materials, surplus fabrics, recycled and organic fibres and hand weaving.
The collections are partially made in India and partially made in France.
Most of KIND STUDIO collections are made with the Chaiim Foundation and its production workshop in Mumbai, India. The foundation fights for the reintegration and emancipation of women who are victims or at risk of human trafficking. It offers them social support, professional training as seamstresses and then employment.
Why India? India has a special local textile culture of traditional skills such as weaving, embroidery, dyeing and woodblock printing. It means supporting the many craftsmen and preserving these traditional techniques, which are often in danger in the face of mass production and fast-fashion. Choosing craftsmanship is choosing a slower pace for fashion and more virtuous for our planet. It means deciding to make clothes that make sense with textiles that have a soul.
Working with a geographically distant country obviously entails an ecological cost when transporting goods. However, it is also to keep a short circuit, by manufacturing models close to where the textiles are produced.
In order to promote local production and French know-how, some of our pieces are made in Paris itself, in a cooperative of craftsmen in the Goutte d'Or district. A workshop with a social and solidarity-based approach, combining quality and local production.
